Best OVERALL drive team

This is similar to the best drivers thread but not the same. This is about the entire drive team as a whole. How do they work together? What team has the best cooperative drive team? Why? I have a couple in mind.

My pick would have to be 269. Sure, I might be a bit bias. Ricky has control of their game play, and is open to making changes to their play so the alliance can win. Kevin and Eric do a great job controlling their bot in the heat of action they stay ice cold. Elise does a great job loading the tetras on to their fantastic arm, making sure each tetra is securely on, while making it very quick.

That's my pick, whose yours?

Re: Best OVERALL drive team

I don't wanna too my own horn...so i'll go with our good friends from Mount Olive, mort(11).

Year after year, they get faster and faster, and always seem to keep their power. Their speed is off the wall, second to very few teams. Same with their power. They have pushed us with our brakes enabled before. That is very impressive. Their design for their base is also very brilliant. They built a wedge on all sides, making it near impossible for other robots to push them back.

Re: Best OVERALL drive team

Again from experience I would say pink 233. Andy is a great, laid back guy. No big pressure. They were confident, so they didn't get rattled. The drivers were cool as cucumbers. What proved it was after our first loss in the quarterfinals (due to our mechanical failure), they didn't even seem to care. Our whole alliance was smiling, kind of joking about what just happened and went right into the second match like nothing happened. They were telling me to relax and take my time while we fixed the chain, even though we were out of time and had to get on the field. Then of coarse their driving was superb and at it's best. The strategies were flexible and gelled between us, and we kept discussing how to modify it. They basically play top notch with full confidence and also keep confidence in their alliances - and don't overstep. One thing I kept hearing Andy say is what would they do (they being the opponent). Then he would say "if I were them I'd do xyz". So with any alliance I assume he's going to shore up their weaknesses before going into a match. I think this is the first year for both of their drivers yet they demonstrate experience. They're going to get even better
I hope we wind up together again even in seeding for a change!

Re: Best OVERALL drive team

I would say, from experience, that 188 has the best drive team. As I have said before, they always communicate with each other. They also always know what to do at all times and I have never seen them do something that was not supposed to happen. Their drivers are veterans so they are well experienced, their human player was one of the fastest I have seen, and their coach is an alumnus so he knows how to communicate with his team.

Re: Best OVERALL drive team

I have always wondered when these best overall threads are done has everyone seen EVERY TEAM to really make an honest opinion or are they just assuming who is the best team.
Just curious.

Re: Best OVERALL drive team

I'll put in the good word for 247 (Da' Bears). I had the pleasure of being on the field with them at Palmetto--always communicating, catching things we didn't, and it just generically worked. (Well, we lost the match, but still it worked.)

254.

Not just this year, continually. This year they lost Jay Lundy (I consider him the best driver FIRST has ever seen) and their arm driver from last year, but you would never know it.

Steve K. does an amazing job as coach, and they all work together like a well oiled machine.
