Calling All Homeschoolers

How many homeschool teams do we have in FIRST? And how many of you that have teams formed through traditional schools accept homeschoolers on your team?

Team #330, part of the Championship winning alliance, is a homeschool team. There really is a Hope Chapel Academy because in California the most legitmate way to homeschool is to do it through a private school. Yet, we really consider ourselves more homeschoolers than private schoolers.

As far as we know, we are the first homeschool team to win the Championship. Does anyone know otherwise? And we would really like to find out how many more homeschoolers are involved.

Time to come out of the closet (or is it more appropriate to say "off the dining room table?")

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Penny Ross
Hope Chapel Academy Vice Principal
More importantly, mom of one Beach Bot student, mom to one mentor, wife to another

Re: Calling All Homeschoolers

Hi,
I am a mentor for Team 342 from Charleston, SC. My wife interviewed lots of teams in Atlanta. I remember her saying she had met 2 homeschool teams and 2 'all girls' teams. We had two homeschoolers, a couple of private schoolers and scores of public schoolers on our team this year. They worked very well together. I am certain we will be seeing a better mix next year.

Regards,
Chuck B (Homeschooling dad of 5)
