Quick return of Crate from Atlanta
I'm curious
The very friendly and polite folks at the MCS desk gave me the impression that FedEx would take their time with the delivery of 340 robot crates since it was donated shipping. I was thinking on the order of 3 to 4 weeks. We took delivery of our crate at 11:00 AM this morning just five days of travel time. Anybody else take delivery of their crate this week or expect it early next? How does this compare to last year? |

Re: Quick return of Crate from Atlanta
Our robot got home yesterday April 28, at about 1:00 pm. We were very suprised to see it get home so fast. FedEx did an awesome job.

Re: Quick return of Crate from Atlanta
The same thing happened with us; they gave us an estimate of anywhere from a few days to a month. We're hosting the Beantown Blitz on May 21st, and we wanted to make sure our robot would be there, so our advisor drove the robot back to Boston in a rented SUV and we shipped the crate full of tools and other random pit stuff.
The crate arrived on Wednesday, so there was no need for any of this, but I guess we were better safe than sorry! |

Re: Quick return of Crate from Atlanta
We got ours the Monday after the championships
! I thought the robot was a mirage at first, but... it wasn't. There it was! Our robot sitting in the middle of the practice field, with the crate already stowed away for next year! |

Re: Quick return of Crate from Atlanta
Dang...we opted for the expedited shipping (at quite a hefty price I might add) to ensure that we would have the robot for a demo tomorrow. Looks like we may not have needed to do that...but oh well, like Emily said, better safe than sorry.

Re: Quick return of Crate from Atlanta
Our crate got back about 2 Thursday afternoon - I was able to go into the shop Friday morning and uncrate everything in about 30 minutes. I wasn't expecting it back until sometime next week.

Re: Quick return of Crate from Atlanta
We got both of ours back last Thursday April 28 which was a record time. Our team still needs to get the costs down a bit more since all the shipping and Drayage came out to be about $1600 for the return trip using MCS/Jevic.
Till next year! Ellery |
