The Excitement Spreads...

I am very excited right now. This year was our team's first and we did pretty well for a rookie. That is reason number one that I'm excited.

Reason number two is that I recieved an email this morning. This email is from a gentleman who's son attends a high school in the surrounding area, who read about FIRST in "Barron's" (still trying to figure out what that is...) and somehow found out about our team and contacted us. He's asking if we can make it so his son's high school is involved!

Have any other teams been the first in their area and gotten super excited that there was more interest?

Re: The Excitement Spreads...

Definitely - Big Red Robotics (from Greenwich, CT) is now working on being able to accept students from another high school in the area, Stamford Westhill High School.

Re: The Excitement Spreads...

Barron's appears to be a weekly financial magazine from the publishers of the Wall Street Journal. I can't say I'd expect FIRST to show up in there, but Dean very well could.

Our Team mostly consists of one high school, but we have a few members on the team that attend other schools.

Re: The Excitement Spreads...

Have I ever. I've spent the past three years of my robotics career dedicated to starting rookie teams and spreading FIRST throughout NJ, and we've had massive success. There is nothing quite like starting a rookie team and watching them take off and truly GET the point of FIRST. This is why we started RINOS (Rookies In Need Of Support).

Congratulations on your rookie year, and having someone to help already! PM or e-mail me if you want help/resources/ideas on how to help this team get started - I'd love to be of assistance. Remember- you have to push for them to get organized and interested NOW for them to be best prepared for NEXT year.
