so there is a tropical storm already...and the hurricane season hasn't even started!!

and it's coming from the pacific ocean over central america into the gulf..this isn't very normal

well so i guess... i hope everyone is safe this crazy hurricane season..hopefully it won't be as bad as last year.... lost sooo much pre-season time...and scared about the bots back in the pit and water damage...

All I know is I've heard some crazy stories about what those college kids do during hurricanes......

the weather always does funny things to people, like when it snows, all these engineers take kids, lock themselves in machine shops & build robots......weird

we don't need hurricanes to do crazy stuff...
fortunately for me (and anyone else in the tampa bay area), tampa bay seems to be in a hurricane "slump" (i.e., we never get hit), though forecasters are saying that this season is going to be worse than last...

Ok well this is a pretty intresting hurricane, definetly a result of El Nino Here's Cnn's Take on it.

And on the hurrican season, they already have announced they expect at least 5 ones to hit the east coast this year..eek, wait yay! No school possibilities! (my house doesn't flood do to the fact we had to get it sealed because of radon levels) Well anyway this is what Reuters typed

my dad and i put up the shutters last time -- several times. so whatever let's see how this goes. i hope i don't end up staying up all night studying by candle again -- specially since my room is the hottest in the house. but i love rain so....

This evening, Hurricane Katrina made landfall in South Florida.

from what i know everyone that we know is safe. it wasn't that bad. i've delt with worse. it hit the southern counties. their power is being restored so they all should be online and all.



just gotta love these hurricanes....

flights will be back up and running soon so some kids can go off to college

Just an update. To put things in a perspective. . . In 1969 when Camille hit there was no flooding in the city of D'Iberville. (where my mom lives), I just heard a report that there is 6ft of water in the city of D'Iberville. I still havn't been able to contact them.

The bridge from Ocean Springs to Biloxi is gone. Many of the casinos, Treasure Bay, Grand Casino, The Copa and some other ones are on the wrong side of Hwy 90. Complete and unimaginable destruction.

Yes this hurricane is much worse than Camille. I am from Gulfport, on the MS Gulf Coast. My family evacuated thankfully and they are ok, but unfortunately that is not the case for everyone down there. Everything down there is gone, just completely wiped out. Go to www.wlox.com and www.sunherald.com for videos and pictures. We got the NE corner of the storm, which is usually the worst part. This hurricane shattered high water mark records from Camille. I think some of the surges reached at least 26 feet. Death toll currently 80, expected to reach over 200. Gulfport, Biloxi, the whole area is basically gone. Infrastructure totally wiped out. No phones, electricity, anything. Even some of the roads are destroyed. New Orleans is now a giant lake. The levee was breached in a few places and the water level is still rising there. There are alot of people down there who have been severly hurt by this hurricane, it will be a long time before everything is back to normal there.

I just talked to my mom diriectly and they are ok. but the damage is worse than we thought.
I just got word that my family in D'Iberville mississippi are alive and well. Their house still stands with roof intact with about 5 ft of flood water inside they lost everything they are currently staying in a camper with friends in the neighborhood with a generator. they managed to save a BBQ grill and are using it to cook and boil water. My moms neighbors house is in the middle of the road. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, and my thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this storm.
