Talking CMUcam2 interfacing

yo bros, I have a problem with interfacing my CMUcam2 (http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/~cmucam/cmucam2/index.html). For my project, we were give a biped robot assembly kit from lynxmotion, the CMUcam2 and a 32 servo controller. From the manual, i understand that the ttl ports on the cam is supposed to go to the micro controller which we dun have. Is it possible to connect to the 32 servo controller? The serial port is already used for the servo controller. All our programming is done in visual basic. We have thought of splitting the serial cable into 2, 1 to go to the servo controller and the other to the cam as the instruction sent will be different eg, the servo will accept inputs like #1 p1500 t1000 ,eg while the cam will accept command like tw, tc ,etc. The final product of the robot will be that, it must walk, climb stairs, detect obsticles, track color etc, autonomusly. As we are quite new to the world of robotics, is there any good reference site to recommand? Or any source code in visual basic that we can use? Thanks in advance.

Mark

Re: CMUcam2 interfacing

This is a forum about the FIRST Robotics Competition, which in 2005 included the CMUCam in the Kit of parts.

We do not do general support for the CMUCam (or Delphi, or anything else people stumble on here about).

Mark,
There are several sites that discuss the CMU but you are the better judge of which ones will fill your needs. Just search through Google. The camera was a project of Carnegie Mellon University, hence the CMU designation. The CMU site has some excellent articles. Since our controller is obviously different from yours, I don't think you will find much help on interfacing, here. Our controller does not use VB for programming either. Generally, splitting serial cables to different locations is a bad idea as device contention becomes a problem as the two devices fight over the control. Sorry, we can't be of more help.
