How are you preparing this year for next year?

<sidenote> Wow, it's odd finally being a 573 alumna, and talking about my team's preparation even though I won't be on the OCCRA team next year... </sidenote>

Anyway, 573 is going to be prototyping this summer. I'm working on getting a list of the interested students together this week. Even though our prototyping is more aimed at FIRST, I think that new and old team members alike will benefit and can apply what's learned over the summer toward OCCRA as well.

What we are doing is finding new materials. The materials we have are crappy, for lack of a better word. Other then that we aren't really doing much for OCCRA.

yea we have done our interviews for the fall (everybody made it) and we will be picking a few freshies at the start of next year

We have been practicing building techniques with our last year's OCCRA Robot, and have added appendages to suit this year's FIRST game, although it doesn't fit inside the legal box for competition.

As for materials, we have a few good tools that are still handy, but the current wire crimpers that we have in our OCCRA room is a piece of junk, with half of its tip chipped off, and it has an inability to crimp without tearing the plastic insulator off (and still the crimps aren't strong enough!).

But anyways, I expect big improvements on our upcoming OCCRA robot compared to last season's box on wheels. I am looking forward to it .

heh since roepers robotics team is so good we are evening the playing field by not doing anything over them summer and like last year we even wont start anything other then the drive train untill a few days before the compition...
