Team 2001
We'll probably have Team 2001 created this year. Do you think they should name their team "Discovery" and their robot "HAL"?

Re: Team 2001
I personally think the team should name thier team and robot whatever they want it to be called. Just because they are team "2001" doesn't mean they need to be associated with events that took place in or are associated with the number 2001.

Re: Team 2001
A team has their own right to choice their name and robots name.
If they did, it would be okay of course. |

Re: Team 2001
Although they do have the choice to do whatever they want with it, it would be an excellent move on their part. Building upon a already-created connection gives your team a much higher chance at being noticed. A perfect example of this is Team 007. Although I remember them back in the day when they were the Parkville Knights, building upon the James Bond theme makes much more sense, and doesn't seem to limit their efforts.
Note: There is a difference, however, between getting noticed and getting recognized, and that subtle difference is actually doing something exemplary: "Oh, that's the team with a really fast robot" or "Hey, I heard they run 16 FLL teams". But, getting recognized is a whole lot easier if you're noticed first. |
