What do Sponsors Get?

Sponsors come in all shapes and sizes. Some give less than $100 and others give over $5000.

How do you classify your sponsors and what do they get for each level of donation?

This is billfreds list from his whitepaper.. (Thanks)

Bronze ($10): Your name will be displayed on d5robotics.com
s sponsors page.

Silver ($25): Your logo will be displayed on d5robotics.com
s sponsor page.

Aluminum ($50): All of the Silver benefits, plus your logo is displayed on our pit display at competitions and demonstrations through the year.

Gold ($100): All of the Silver Plus benefits, and your name or logo will be displayed on the team
s 2006 T-shirts. (Well send you one, too.)

Titanium ($250): All of the Aluminum benefits, and your name or logo will be displayed on our 2006 robot, which will be built next January and February.

Platinum ($500+): All of the Gold benefits, and your name becomes part of our official team name as it
s read at competitions. (For example, “Billfred Industries/HSR, Inc./School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties/Irmo High School/Dutch Fork High School/Chapin High School”)

What does your team do?

What kind of a budget does this sectioning tend to produce?

A question often asked is how much to get my company name on the robot? I heard it twice this weekend and I did not have an easy answer.

It's like Nascar... Sort of

Re: What do Sponsors Get?

But how much overall money does this kind of sectioning bring in for your group to work with? Would larger numbers result in a greater money pool for your group to work with?

Re: What do Sponsors Get?

I'm not entirely sure how it'll turn out--I essentially developed the whole sponsorship thing from scratch for this season. Your mileage can and will vary.

In retrospect, I do wish there was a $1,000 level. However, the way I see it, ten people giving ten bucks each still buys a lot of PVC pipe/pizza for meetings/aspirin for after the meetings.

Re: What do Sponsors Get?

I am not sure what $ amount gets what level on our team, but at our end of the year awards we give out plaques and team shirts to our sponsors, and to our top sponsor we give them one of the awards that we win or hope to win.

Re: What do Sponsors Get?

In Zeeland here is how it works:

Some sponsors give money, some give time and some give both. Most will not directly benefit from being our sponsor with more sales. What all are looking for is recognition in our community. We put all sponsors on the robot. If our design works we will display the big money people more predominantly.

What we can "give" our sponsors (and really what they want besides recognition) is quality kids. We make sure our big sponsors know the kids who are going to schools like Kettering and GVSU school of Engineering. It took a few years, but now our sponsors and kids know to look to each other for jobs or internships.

I guess that is what sponsors get, some recognition and some good kids.

Re: What do Sponsors Get?

All of our corporate sponsors get their name on the robot. I don't remember who we put on the shirt but I know the big logo was our sponsoring Vocactional School simply becuase you can't put a dollar amount on what they give us. Space, machines, training, amoung other things. You rock MCST!

We have no "level" they are all equally cool in our eyes. We give out movies, a plaque with a picture of the team and signed by all of us, and we lend out our robot for them to display.

What kind of money do each of your sponsors contribute (on average, how much do you ask of them)

Well we don't ask a price. We normally get 3,000 dollars but we often ask for other things instead like good computers or tools.

Re: What do Sponsors Get?

The way we work with sponsors is that we give them a variety of options. For example:

Website
Uniform
Robot
(Other media withheld)

with a price placed next to each.

The sponsor chooses how much of a specific advertising medium they want based on their budget. Bigger budget = more space.

Look at the business models of NASCAR Teams. (Hint: look it up in a business magazine)
