Team Number Limits?

Here's what happened:
We competed at Ramp Riot this weekend with two robots. We had our second robot set to team number 2173 (173s second robot). During our first practice match, Mike Wade told and showed me that our team number in our robot didn't match the team number on our control board. The field control system read number 125 from the robot.
At first I was confused, so I we went back to the pits to try and figure it out. I found out something interesting. As you know, the high bit on team number switches is also used for changing radio channels. Well, if you have the team number set to 2173 and flip the high bit, you get 125, you can do the math if you want.
It seems that the RC has one less bit than the OI. Can anyone else confirm this? I can't seem to find it in the IFI documentation.

Here's what I still can't figure out. The robot was set to team 125, the OI was 2173 and everything seemed to work fine during the practice round. If the team numbers were different, shouldn't it have not worked? Does the RC have one less bit, or does it only show one less bit?

We were also using a 2004 RC and OI on the robot. Does this same thing apply to the 2005s?

Any info or explanation would help, thanks.

Re: Team Number Limits?

I don't know the answer.

However...
If you post a question at:

The engineers who designed the system will have a response up very quickly. (Usually within 1 business day.)
