Night before kickoff - What is your vision of the 2006 game?

It is now the night before kickoff, after all the rumors, speculation, hints, and discussions here on Chief Delphi what do YOU think this year's game will look like?

My prediction:
I see the game with a large ramp in the middle of the field with a large wall in the middle of the ramp. This wall will be covered in clear lexan (materials list) so that it can be see through. I also predict that the game piece will be footballs!

What do you guys think?

that's about what i've got..though it could include some steps. I also expect the autonomous period to include some fairly significant goals

Re: Night before kickoff - What is your vision of the 2006 game?

I'm going to go somewhat against the current and say it will be a five robot game, either 3v2 or 5v0. I envision a rectangular field with all five player stations along one long side of the field and the human players on the other side. Rather than a central ramp, I predict either one or two raised end zones, three feet tall, with two or more methods of access: possibly a very steep diamond plate-covered ramp, a somewhat less steep plexiglass-covered ramp, or a curved luan quarter-pipe.

I would like to see a football game piece, but I don't see what that has to do with a "shovel's show" other than the rather loose connection of a shovel pass. I don't think it will be pool noodles, though. A far-fetched suggestions: anticipating heavier contact in a football-inspired game, mandatory noodle bumpers. The robots tangle with each other, pasta protects... Other than that, I don't know what to make of the pasta since there is no PVC on the B.O.M.

I'm sure I'll be just as surprised as everyone else tomorrow. I have a feeling this year's task is going to be one where you just stare at it and mumble to yourself for several hours after it is revealed.

Sleep well, if you can...

Re: Night before kickoff - What is your vision of the 2006 game?

im predicting a verticle piece of lexan glass that can be seen through, and then diamond plate metal raised areas on the left and right side of the lexan. i think traction will play a large roll in this year's game. Also, i think the game piece will be some sort of ball. Other than that, im clueless.

Re: Night before kickoff - What is your vision of the 2006 game?

I'm not really sure on what objects we will be using, but as for a ramp in the middle i can see a ramp, possibly a ramp on all sides, that is covered by a low friction surface (lexan). And then some scoring thing at the top of the ramp, possibly a place to put color specific objects to score. Also some place for robots to score such as hanging, being at the top of the ramp and being at home (since every year there is a way for the robot to score also)
