Switching Channels

I can't seem to switch the channel out of the default Ch. 40. I'm using my jumpers from the previous years (we have several), and none of them switch the channels. We have no problem switching channels from last year's controls.

Has there been a change that I'm unaware of?

Fred

Re: Switching Channels

You have to set the most significant bit of the team number to 1. (Team number > 2048)

I don't remember having to do that last year, is that new? We had rigged up a prior year's robot as Team "1101" just to have a different team number... sometimes we swapped the MSB instead of the LSB. But I don't recall it *needing* to be the MSB. (and think about it, this is the same way they do it with different channels in the actual competitions.)

I believe it was new last year.. I think it was as a replacement for using the channel jumper, but I'm not sure.

In either case, the OI or RC reference manual will tell you exactly how.

Re: Switching Channels

If you are using pre-2005 controllers, then you need a dongle with a program mode in it to change channels. Otherwise I can point you to an excellent white paper written by Josh Hambright. This should clear all questions.
