Building the field
is anyone building the whole field or just parts of it for practice?
our team is building half of the field to practice on. the field seems to be a bit bigger than it looks in the simulation. I think anyone who has the field already built knows that the size is enormous |

Re: Building the field
116 is building "key elements" of the field such as the goals, ramps, etc to practice with, but some teams are building the whole field.

Re: Building the field
1640 is just building the key elements too (goals and ramp).

Re: Building the field
236 is building basic key elements as well. I don't know anyone who has enough space to build the whole thing.

Re: Building the field
Looking at the game and all the geometry involved, I would encourage all teams to build as much of a field as they have room for. I did not build using the exact materials except the diamond plate, all sizes are accurate.
We are very lucky to have a room dedicated to a competition field. We have two ramps, 1 player station and 2 lower goals to practice with. This amounts to about 75% of the field size. Once the field was in place - comleted last week Thursday - it really changed our look at the game. "All is not as it appears in a flat drawing". |

Re: Building the field
We have a hallway to practice in... So we are building only the parts of the field that we absolutely need and only so that they are portable.

Re: Building the field
our team worked on our half of a field today. its almost complete and all thats left is the ramps and those will get done tomorrow. all we need now is the diamond plating for the ramps.

Re: Building the field
Team 836 has so far built a half ramp, main goal, and one corner goal. What more do we need?

Re: Building the field
The simulation is the exact sizes. I know because its my team that does the simulations every year.lol. It just looks small because your screen is not the size of a basketball court, and its a top view instead of a ground floor 30 view.
look at the symbolism in the game, when you reset, on each side the numbers 599 are created by diffeent balls. ahahaha. Gotta love Suneet for making it. We have build the tall goal and the end ramp, but made a 8 foot wide instead of 11. We also ae making the corner goal soon, but we dont have a lot of people working on it. As long as we have the center goal fo prototype shooting, the rest of the field is not that important untill you get the robot running. Well the corner goals are important, but its easy to estimate that. |

Re: Building the field
we finished our half field today and i hope that it will help the design team with the implementation of the robot etc.
