Camera doesn't have firmware? no programming?
Hey
I have a camera that's connect via serial cable to the com port, computer finds it and everything, but when i try to run the demo.llb it finds the Com1 Port and the camera plugged in, but doesn't have any firmware. It won't grab the frames or anything I also tried connecting the serial cable to the RC and using the TTL cable to connect to the camera, but i haven't been able to find anything to load onto the RC to utilize the camera. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks |

Re: Camera doesn't have firmware? no programming?
Connect your pc into the camera, and open up the terminal window in IFI loader. Make sure everythings powered up correctly and type 'GV' into the terminal.
You should get the firmware version of the camera back. If you get nothing, post again with what exactly happened. |

hmm.. okay...
a litle cheackl9ist before we have to diagnose a worse problem: are you sure the camera is receiving adequate power? is your backup battery returning 7-9 volts? do you have bothe your serial cable and TTL cable connected to the cam at the same time (we have observed that the cam gives prioity to the ttl cable) are you using the right com port? do the lights light up on the cam when it is turned on? is the On switch closed on your cam? is your robot on? that is if ur trying to read to the computer. |

okay we had that problem of no feedback if the camera was not connected to the board (either thru the wire wiggling out or a bad PWM cable). you should try subsitiing your existing pwm cable with another one, testing the current going thru the PWM cable, or replace your converter board. the camera does have firmware on it if the lights are turning on. |

Re: Camera doesn't have firmware? no programming?
well we connected to the camera directly from PC, but when we ran IFI, it didn't detect it. We are now having the camera connected via TTL to the RC, and the RC connected to the PC via program cable. We loaded camera_s to the RC but it hasn't been able to do anything. We started up IFI with IFI loader, IFI detects and everything, but when we go to terminal window, type in GV (other any other command for that matter) and hit enter, nothing shows up. nothing is there when we open up the terminal window too.

Re: Camera doesn't have firmware? no programming?
Okay, you seem to be a bit confused.
Check these things: Camera has power (LED on the front of it on?) TTL Board installed correctly (The Black pin slots face toward the RC, not away) Cable from TTL to Camera is installed correctly? (Look for the B printed on the boards, make sure black is closest to it) Backup battery charged? (Get the dashboard viewer, check via it , if its lower then 6v, charge it, and try when its fully charged) Totally reset the RC. Remove main battery, press the reset button, reinstall main battery. If it still doesn't work, download the code to the RC again. If it still doesn't work, replace the PWM cable connecting the camera to the TTL board. If its not working, remove the TTL board from the RC, connect a cable from your computer to the camera, and laucnh the labview app. --- IFI Loader didn't recognize the camera as a device because there's no code that you can download to it. You may be able to use the terminal window in it to send commands to the camera, but it should not be necessary. |

Re: Camera doesn't have firmware? no programming?
well all hardware is correct, everything is wired, tethered etc etc. what code exactly are we supposed to download to the RC, and is this transfered via IFI loader? if it suppose to be transfered via IFI Loader, it's a .hex file right?
we supposingly loaded code frc_camer_s to it, downloaded the hex file to the RC, it downloaded it, but when the terminal window popped up, nothing showed up. Last edited by GraphicArtDesig : 20-01-2006 at 19:25. |
