Re: pic: Rage 173 Thrower
Your camera is upside down
![]() Well, correct as per the spec's, but easier to use mounted the other way (The actual lens is in the center of horizontal and vertical rotation the other way) |

Re: pic: Rage 173 Thrower
im gonna say i don think this is RAGE's final design for 1 main reason...
RAGE NEVER releases anything until after the UTC scrimmage... NEVER!!! so maybe this was an earlier CAD drawn up design or someone w/ a lot of time on thier hands trying to fool us all!!! *we will find out on the 18th i suppose* |

Re: pic: Rage 173 Thrower
Actually I don't think it is. FIRST revised the CMU manual that now shows the camera mounted the other way.
http://www2.usfirst.org/2006comp/oth...book-Rev_B.pdf http://www2.usfirst.org/2006comp/oth...mbly_Rev_A.pdf The way he shows it looks right side up mounted this way. We just invert the tilt when we program that servo motor and everything is peechy key... Taking a frame grab shows the correct "right side up" orientation the way it's shown. Don't forget to "guard" the camera though...flying balls could break that puppy dog right off. Quote:

Re: pic: Rage 173 Thrower
The guard is in the next picture.
And these are up to date pics. Your 4 weeks in the build how much can you copy now. I'm warming up the laser now to let it rip out these parts. the side plate will take the longest to cut around 2 minutes each. we had a turret but we got rid of it for weight. One CNC control on the machine is good enough. the photo switch in the back is a reference switch for the globe servo. |

Re: pic: Rage 173 Thrower
It looks like the motor underneath the camera is for adjusting 'the arc of the ball, the trough it is attached to rotates and releases the ball at different spots on the wheel.

Re: pic: Rage 173 Thrower
First off, I think you meant, "I didn't come here to lose," not "loose."
Have you prototyped that shooter? The release point on the moveable section looks kind of funny to me. But if your tests show it works, who am I to say anything? (Unless there's a missing part that goes through those two smaller holes just above the wheel...) Definitely a piece of industrial art. |

Re: pic: Rage 173 Thrower
Anyways we tested the shooter on day two. Playing with top spin and bottom spin. the sliding firing system was not tested. but the two rail system was tested and well liked. the setup was about 85%
I think the fill point of the balls effect the amount of energy given to each ball. |

This picture was put up for technical discussion only. If you have the need to edit spelling or anything else non engineering related please find a local NEMO meeting or forum.
