Hey!
I'm Armando from team 1872. We will be participating on the Florida regionals that will be held on the UCF. I was wondering is it legal if the defending robot pushes an offensive robot so its harder for him to shoot for the top goal. Thanks |

Re: Concerning defensive rules
It is perfectly legal as long as the contact is in the "bumper zone" and you don't charge at them from a great length (ie halfway across the field), and/or intentionally tip them.
It was quite common, especially during the elimations at VCU for the really good scorers to be pushed around. |

Re: Concerning defensive rules
also go to www.stuypulse.com/download_06.html and if you look at the finals match near the end you see one robot plow another one down
one match ended with four robots on their side not by ramp but because of their robots being pushed |

Re: Concerning defensive rules
If defense wasn't legal we'd have been in trouble. It became our main method for dealing with high scorers. Indeed, after the semis, our robot had a thin layer of plastic dust and metal shavings from other robots.

Re: Concerning defensive rules
Another thing to do is if a team is lined up to shoot right in front of the ramp, push em up. Most of the time thell flip trying to get down. We got pushed up quite a bit.

We were rolled several times this way on purpose at the BAE granite state regional. Seems the ramming rules and intentional tipping rules were laxly enforced. I look at it as just another challange Make sure your robot can handle a bit of rough handling as you will see a lot of it if you show yourself as a capable shooter. |
