Who Plays Whom in Championship SF?
Here is my question.
How does FIRST figure out which division champions play each other in the first round of the Championship? In 2005, it was Curie v Galileo in SF 1 and Archimedes v Newton in SF 2. In 2004, it was Newton v Galileo in SF 1 and Curie v Archimedes in SF 2. |

Re: Who Plays Whom in Championship SF?
In 2003, it was Galileo v Archimedes in SF 1 and Newton v Curie in SF 2.
In 2002, it was Galileo v Einstein in SF 1 and Curie v Archimedes in SF 2. My team had the same question about how that was determined. I'll post it to the Q/A if no one else knows. |

Re: Who Plays Whom in Championship SF?
I think it's how the fields are set up in the arena...don't hold me to that but last year if you were facing Einstein, Newton and Galileo were to the left, they played each other, and Achimedes and Cure were to the right, and they played each other...so I think that's how it is, I'm not 100% on that though.

Success, courtesy of 330!
Per http://forums.usfirst.org/showthread...=1992#post1992, it'll be Archimedes vs. Curie, then Galileo vs. Newton. |

That means if the Heavens open up and luck runs wild and 1902's team flys then either the two Martians
or two aliances with triplets ![]() |

Re: Who Plays Whom in Championship SF?
In the manual it says, Division A vs. Division B, and Division C vs. Division D. As the teams were placed in to divisions in the order, Galileo, Archimedes, Curie, Newton, I'll make a guess and say it will be:
Galileo vs. Archimedes and Curie vs. Newton In 2005, teams were ordered as follows: Archimedes, Curie, Newton, Galileo. We had Curie vs. Galileo. In 2004, teams were ordered as follows: Newton, Galileo, Archimedes, Curie. We had Newton vs. Galileo. In 2003, teams were ordered as follows: Curie, Newton, Galileo, Archimedes. We had Archimedes vs. Galileo. In 2006, teams were ordered into divisions as follows: Galileo, Archimedes, Curie, Newton. Following the pattern established with the previous years, it seems it would be: Galileo vs. Curie and Archimedes vs. Newton. I guess I don't know either. |

Re: Who Plays Whom in Championship SF?
In '04, '05, and '06, the teams were assigned to the divisions in the order of Galileo, Archimedes, Curie, and Newton (GACN). At least according to the FIRST team lists.
Yet, the semi-final matchups in '04 and '05 were different. Still no definitive answer. ![]() |

Re: Who Plays Whom in Championship SF?
The pit map is the same as last year. That is the first time that has happened since I have been in FIRST (2001). We were always moving sites (Disney, Houston, GWCC Building A, GWCC Building C) or realigning divisions (Newton -> Einstein). Maybe the semi-final match ups will be the same.
