Ive been trying to find some good alternatives to the standard kit parts. Has anyone found a camera that is any better than the standard one

Re: CMU cam
Would a camera other than the CMUcam even be FIRST legal? And even so, by what means would you find a way to power/program it?

Re: CMU cam
if it follows the COTS rules then it would be legal. (this year it woud have to be less than 200$.

Re: CMU cam
The teams that used 2 CMUCams this year had to follow the same COT rules you would for obtaining any part. If another camera cost less than $200, and it could be interfaced and powered from the RC, then I don't see any problems with one.
