[WRRF]: Opportunities for student volunteers

As everyone who has been reading the WRRF threads knows, the WRRF will be hosting the Cal Games at Pioneer High School, in San Jose, California, on Saturday, October 28, 2006. There are about 24 teams currently planning on coming to this event. The cutoff date for registration is October 13 and we can still accommodate a few more teams in the pit spaces, so don't be shy.

This post is directed at high school students on FIRST teams, or formerly on FIRST teams, that are not competing in the WRRF Cal Games this year. If you are interested, we want you at the Cal Games as a volunteer! There are many opportunities for students to volunteer at this event: helping with inspections, queuing, and field reset operations among many other things. It is an opportunity to work with great mentors, as well an opportunity to collect documented community service hours (required by many colleges, including the University of California, for admission) doing something that is possibly much more fun than it is work.

If you are a high school student who has at least one FIRST competition under your belt, and want to volunteer at the Cal Games, please send me a PM providing your real email address and I will get you lined up as a volunteer. We have needs for volunteers after school, and into the night, on the Friday before the event, October 27, and all day during the event, October 28. Don't be shy.

Eugene Brooks
President of the WRRF
