Problem getting started with USB 6009

I have installed everything per the instructions, and can talk to the USB-6009 using the Measurement & Automation Explorer. However, when I try to use the Instrument I/O Assistant in LabVIEW, I get an error dialog telling me that Measureent & Automation Explorer or the Instrument I/O Assistant is not installed correctly.

I looked again at the installation program and didn't see anything missing. I looked for related options in the LabVIEW settings and didn't see anything.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas to fix it?

Thanks,
Jim Greenhaw

Re: Problem getting started with USB 6009

Hello Jim,
First, you probably want to be using the DAQ Assistant rather than the Instrument I/O Assistant to communicate with your USB-6009. The Instrument I/O Assistant is designed to work with GPIB/Serial and most other devices with which you would use NI-VISA to communicate. The DAQ Assistant will help you get started in communicating with NI-DAQmx devices, of which the USB-6009 is.

Ultimately, if you do desire to use the Instrument I/O Assistant to communicate with other devices, then I recommend that you uninstall and re-install the Instrument I/O Assistant from the Device Driver CD. It is possible there was a corruption on the initial installation.

I hope this helps. Please post again if this resolves your questions or if this resolves the behavior for you.
Regards,
Angela
