2007 Canadian kick-off Jan-6-2007 media coverage

http://firstroboticscanada.org/site/index.php

Just a reminder that if you want some media coverage of the kick-off event then start contacting the newspapers (star/sun/globe/national post), radio stations, 680news.com, cfrb, am640 etc and of course the TV stations....make sure in you're "press release" you say clearly "what, when, where" and what they "cameras/reporters" will see and if interviews will be available...and contact information....

If you can get them to this event you just might get them interested in following a team during build season and perhaps the waterloo and GTR regionals.

I am a cameraperson that supplies news video to Global and I have let Global local and national know about this fine event....

my strategy would be to hit the "assignment desks" with info now and then again friday afternoon and first thing Saturday morning....in news our memory is auto-erased every two hours....seriously

sorry I haven't posted much lately, been busy with 15 hour shifts and unlike a robot or robot builders I actually do need sleep

I tried this, but the biggest newpaper in the state of Connecticut "sucks"!! I called a reporter at THE HARTFORD COURANT but the editors will not allow reporter to come out and do a story on the kick off. THE HARTFORD COURANT daily town section is down to about five pages and that includes two pages of death notices. That is what happens when you only have one major newspaper in town no competion, and they can control the news.

Re: 2007 Canadian kick-off Jan-6-2007 media coverage

yup, happens all this time...and I work in news and I can't get stories covered, sometimes it feels like a losing battle but you have to properly bombard each media outlet and just hope for the best, once one picks up the story then everyone else plays catch-up and wants to cover the story. Sometimes it just doesn't happen but you have to try.

I have let the people at the station I do work for know about this saturday's kick-off but I have no idea if they will send someone to cover it, would be a great reporter story buy trying to convince them is the hard part.

Re: 2007 Canadian kick-off Jan-6-2007 media coverage

just a quick note here, something from the FIRST kick-off at the Ontario science centre might just make it on GLOBAL NEWS in our 11pm news tonight....a lot can change but as of 4pm it was in the line-up......I doubt I will be awake by 11pm to watch our news as I have to be on duty for 5am but hopefully it will make it, it was a fun event.
