Pneumatic Components Order form
Maybe I am missing it on the site, but does anyone know where to find the Pneumatic Components Order form for 2007? I would like to see if there have been any changes to the cylinder sizes we can use, or should we just go off of last years form?
Thanks |

Re: Pneumatic Components Order form
Hrmmm, it is normally the very last page in the pneumatics manual. Have you looked there? (I have not downloaded everything yet so I don't know)

Re: Pneumatic Components Order form
It appears as though this website is already setup to accept orders.
http://www.bimba.com/FirstFree.aspx However, I may wait until either the rest of the pneumatics KOP arrives and/or the manual becomes available. |

Re: Pneumatic Components Order form
There are some discrepancies between the available bores on the Bimba website and in the last page of the pneumatics manual. Particularly, the availability/legality of 1.5" bore 12" stroke. Can we use this?

Re: Pneumatic Components Order form
What do they mean by the mounting dimensions (DP, DP, DXP)?

Re: Pneumatic Components Order form
You'll notice that this is determined by what bore you choose, so I doesn't end up mattering in the end.

Re: Pneumatic Components Order form
I called Bimba and spoketo their person who deals with the orders from FRC teams. The strokes on their site are correct. That is what they are giving free to FRC teams. That's what they said. It may or may not coincide with what FIRST says.

Re: Pneumatic Components Order form
The manual says to check the Bimba website for available stroke lengths. There are stroke lengths on Bimba's site that are not on the last page on the pneumatics manual. You can get, for example, a 1712-DP from Bimba's online order form for FIRST teams. They will ship it to you, and you will have paid nothing. I even called them and this is the case. So, if they aren't allowed, FIRST needs to say so very loudly and very quickly, and needs to tell Bimba to stop offering them. Until that happens, I say anything Bimba wil give you through their FIRST team order page is fair game.
They were allowed in previous years. Does that right there make them legal? On a side note, I have no idea why I cannot post in the official forum (with the username and password given in TIMS). If anyone can help, PM me. Last edited by sanddrag : 15-01-2007 at 15:07. |

"However, they must be indetical to those listed on the Pneumatics Order Form". Checking the Bimba site for available lengths just means that some of the sizes listed on in the manual might not be available - check to see if they are. It does not mean order any size you want. We are posing a formal question on the Q&A, but unless FIRST says otherwise I would stay with only the sizes listed in the Manual because it is the FIRST document - the web site is not run by FIRST and the rep is not a FIRST employee., so they cannot change the official rules. |

Re: Pneumatic Components Order form
Be very, very careful when you use the online order form from Bimba. You can only legally order those cylinder sizes that are listed on the order form in the Pneumatics Manual.
Question: "Rule 105 states that you must use pneumatic cylinders that are identical to the ones on the Pneumatic Components Order Form. The Pneumatic Components Order form also states to check the Bimba web site for available strokes in each bore size. Both the online Free Pneumatic Components Order Form and the online Bimba Product Catalog list more choices for stroke length than are listed on the printed order form from the Pneumatics Manual. Can you use a cylinder that is on the online order form or the product catalog but not on the printed order form in the Pneumatics Manual? For example: 1724-DP is available on the online order form but not listed in the printed manual...is it legal to use? As another example: 3118-DXP is listed as a standard cylinder on the Bimba website but is not listed on the printed pneumatic component order form...is it legal to use? In each case they are both legal types of cylinder but with strokes different from what is listed on the Pneumatic Components Order Form as printed in the Pneumatics Manual." Answer: "As specified in Rule <R105>, additional pistons "must be identical to those listed on the Pneumatic Components Order form (i.e. same part numbers)." Parts 1724-DP and 3118-DXP are not available on the Pneumatics Components Order Form, and therefore are not permitted." |
