Re-wiring 24V double solenoids

I am trying to figure out how to re-wire the 24V to 12V on the double solenoids. Our "inventory" person lost the instructions on how to. I know I am supposed to replace the coils, but do I just use the one from the single 12V solenoid??

Re: Re-wiring 24V double solenoids

Good morning,

If you are simply trying to fix the solenoids you recently received from SMC it is very simple...no wiring required...

On the side of each double solenoid and one side of the single you will find small grey coils which are marked 24 volts...

Remove the two screws that hold them in and use the replacement coils provided by SMC in place of them... You even get extra screws if you lose one while taking them out....

that's all you need to do... replace the 24 volt coils with the 12 volt coils and

bingo you have 12 volt solenoids...

I hope this is what you were looking for...

good luck!!!

R

Re: Re-wiring 24V double solenoids

In the shipment of the late KOP pneumatics you should have received a bag of loose grey 12v coils. The other bags with the double and single solenoids all came with 24v coils installed.
I'd mark all the coils before you start so you don't easily mixup the 12 & 24v parts. Then remove all the coils (24v) attached to the SMC solenoids and replace with the loose 12v coils.

Quote:
- *QTY 2: Double solenoid valve, 24VDC (PN SY3240)
- *QTY 1: Single solenoid valve, 24VDC (PN SY3140)
- *QTY 5: 12VDC replacement coils (PN SY114-6LOZ)

* You must remove the 24V coils from the solenoid valves and replace them with the grey 12V coils before installing them on your robot. This is done by removing the mounting screws, and switching the 24V coils for the 12V coils provided. More information about these valves is provided in the FIRST 2007 Pneumatics Manual posted on the FIRST website:
