Waterjets
Hey you guys,
I was watching an advertisement for "American Chopper" last night, and caught a glimpse of something amazing. They apparently now have a 5 axis waterjet machine that is able to cut around an object without moving the part. I tried finding a video of it, but I found this instead. Go have a gander, it's pretty amazing. |

Re: Waterjets
I just saw the commercial a few minutes ago. The part they cut looked nice and I dont think they were even using the machine to its full potential.

Re: Waterjets
That is amazing! I think that would be hard to CAD up since you would also have to put in the piece that is holding the object you want to cut. I think that would be cool to watch in person too.

Re: Waterjets
Just looking ahead on my Local TV Guide. . . (Central Time Zone Channel: TLC)
Tonight 9-10 PM - "Mikey Special" - Mikey plans a scooter adventure for lobster off the New England Coast Thursday 15th 8-9 PM - "Flowjet Bike 1" - work begins on a new chopper, and Mikey starts a secret project Thursday 22nd 8-9 PM - "Flowjet Bike 2" - Work continues on the custom chopper; the crew heads to a paintball course I have seen previews of the show also. Looks to be a very cool machine. Seems like they make some complex parts on it. Hope they show a lot of footage of it in action ![]() |
