Summer Programs/Activities

I'm just curious of what everyone else plans to do over the summer that is non-robotics related. I'll be at CMU this summer for SAMS. Will any other FIRSTers else be there? Any other similar programs where FIRSTers will be gathering?

Use this thread to discuss meetups, summer programs attending or other activities... basically a "Who's Going Where - Summer 2007"

Have fun, Tennessee is really fun (if you like camping, hiking, and other odds and ends). Either way,you will have fun. I'll bet that you could easily find a robotics team down there. Just look around on the internet and see if you can't check them out for a day.

There's only one team that I know of... F.E.A.R.

Tennessee is the best state in the US... mainly because I was born in Chattanooga. Take lots of pictures, it's beautiful.

Re: Summer Programs/Activities

Summer camp in late June in San Diego, followed immediately by going to the eastern Sierras for a summer job (at a summer camp), followed by maybe a week or two at home before it's off to college.

Re: Summer Programs/Activities

Now through June 14-ish: As little as possible. Maybe some robotics work, maybe some work on campus, but nothing that involves punching a clock or collecting a paycheck. (Darn. )

June 15-16: BattleCry (I hope!)

June 20-July 22: Work in Maine at a camp up that ways. (Robotics, of course--and this is more or less how BattleCry becomes an option.)

July 22-August: More slacking off.

Mid-August: Move back to USC for the senior year.

Re: Summer Programs/Activities

Working full time under a summer research grant from NSERC in the Human Media Lab of Queen's University. If anyone happens to be coming to campus feel free to give me a shout.

Having lightsaber battles with friends so they can be recorded and mailed on DVD to next year's Computing students. That, and other strange and wonderful things that come along with being President of our computing students' association.

Slowly working on learning some Mandarin.

Oh, and last week I finally got my G (Ontario's unrestricted driver's license for standard cars/trucks/vans).

Re: Summer Programs/Activities

(I wanted to bring this thread up to see if anyone else is going to attend the same on as me)

I'll be attending COSMOS(Math & Science Program) at UC San Diego in La Jolla, CA. from July 8-August 4.
I'll be skipping a few days from it to attend IRI though!

& then later in August I'll be volunteering at the UCLA medical center.
