Anyone have an LG Chocolate phone?
I need a new phone and am looking into a few of them, but this one caught my eye.
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/s...CompletedOrder= Anyone have one? Thoughts on it? Be honest! Tell me both the good and the bad! One negative I see is that it's not a flip phone like my good ol' reliable one I have now, but it has a ton of cool features for the tech-geek in me. lol Thanks in advance. Re: Anyone have an LG Chocolate phone?
One of my friends has the chocolate, she says that the media buttons are picky. Otherwise she loves it. Elgin, if you're going to get a phone from Verizon, I would get the LG enV. My cousin has it. She loves it to death.

Re: Anyone have an LG Chocolate phone?
I have the not new version of the LG Chocolate, but I do like it quite a bit. It takes a little while to get used to the touch buttons, they are a bit funny at times, but other than that it's a great phone. It works awesomely as an MP3 player, you just have to buy a tranflash / MicroSD card. Seeing as how you can buy 2 GB Micro SD cards now for about 25 bucks or so, this phone can easily double as an iPod of sorts. It comes with a 2.5mm plug in adapter, I just went ahead and bought the 'music kit' that gives you a USB cable and some very nice headphones / handsfree talking device for 30 bucks.
It's more of a phone for style and such, has some great capabilities though such as bluetooth, and I love the noise it makes when it slides open ![]() |

Re: Anyone have an LG Chocolate phone?
My friend has one of those phones. His battery does not last very long, though he got it when it first came out, so that might be something that has since been fixed. I know he has already had to replace it once because the touch buttons stopped working. I'm not sure if this is just a bad experience with the Chocolate (he's had lots of bad luck with electronics--phones, laptops, etc.).
I do have to agree with Michelle on the enV, though. |

Re: Anyone have an LG Chocolate phone?
are you only looking at verizon?
Before i got my iphone, i had a motorola slvr, which was reallynea when i first got it. I don't think it costs much anymore. Well anyways, i've found ways to put java games into my slvr for free, along with wallpapers, ringtones, and videos (although the 3ggp format has terrible quality). It's also got iTunes, but the downside is that you only can put 100 songs. If you're really a tech junky, yiu should go with cingular's slvr, since verizon locks bluetooth on all phones so it only works with headsets. If you want to know how i get all these java files and ringtones without having to pay for anything or subscribe to junk mail, just message me. |

Re: Anyone have an LG Chocolate phone?
For the most part yes. Never had a drop in service with the network or any complaints (other than the price of International calling with prepaid recently going through the roof - which would be solved with my plan I'm looking at now*), and I just have prepaid now and just went through the numbers of how much I've paid for the past 6 months each month.
No shock, March & April of this year I spent about 190 bucks on minutes each month. Going back 6 months those were the high end limits. I def. want something a lot lower than that for a normal plan. lol Btw, can you tell what group of people I call the most? lol Here's a hint, March & April are the craziest months in FIRST for me and many others as far as traveling to competitions is concerned. The least I've spent has been this month @ about 80 bucks. I want a plan for 50-75 bucks a month, and found one with Verizon which will suit all my needs so far. I can keep my number when I switch from prepaid to a normal plan (Already looked into that), and just need (re: want) a new phone now while I'm at it. *A 20 dollar refill on the Verizon prepaid now gives me 228 minutes US talk time, and 38 minutes International (re: Canadian) (local FIRST team numbers pwnd. lol) Anyways, back in March and April the prices were actually the same 228 minutes in both US & International talk time. (Good thing eh?) ![]() |

Re: Anyone have an LG Chocolate phone?
well it depends. most cell phone customers are cingular, and you could get free mobile to mobile and nights and weekends. If lots of your friends use cingular, then minutes wouldn't be too much of a problem. I'm not sure about international, though.
what i really hate about verizon is that they don't let phone makers control the software on the phones, verizon does. That's why verizon didn't sign a contract with apple for the iPhone. and if you want to do off the fly bluetooth file transfers, verizon locks it or doesn't support it. I'm not that much of a talker, so minutes aren't much of a problem. |

Re: Anyone have an LG Chocolate phone?
My wife bought one for herself and one for my son for Christmas, neither have been happy with the phones. They are cool but just to fragile.

Re: Anyone have an LG Chocolate phone?
I got the original chocolate when it first came out and the touch sensor buttons were too finicky for me. I would be calling someone, and my cheek would press the send button (when pressed brought up your call history) and would inadvertantly call someone else.
Although I've heard they tweaked with the sensors a bit, so that could've been fixed for the newer generations. |

Re: Anyone have an LG Chocolate phone?
If you are interested in the Chocolate, but still want to have the classic flip. I recommend looking into the LG VX8600 which was dubbed the "flip chocolate" when revealed. It has same functionality, but a flip phone. I have had it since the release date last November, and it is one of the best phones I have had in almost 10 years (features, but more importantly reception).
The only real problem I have with it (which you would have with a chocolate) is the smudging on the case from fingers. If you like the 8600, take a look at the 8700 which is an upgrade to a brushed aluminum case. |

Re: Anyone have an LG Chocolate phone?
I have a Motorola Q with Verizon service. It looks like a calculator, but I love it. It did randomly not turn on once after I had it for a year; I took it to the Verizon store, and they gave me a new one. I was surprised at their commitment to customer satisfaction.

I've dropped my chocolate a few times and it has held up fine. It's a rather slick surface, fingerprints show up easily on the phone, but they clean off easy too. |
