IRI Silent Auction Thank-You

We received this letter today from the Julian Center, recipient of 1/2 of the IRI Silent Auction proceeds. Thank you again to all who supported this auction - your generosity is making an impact.

Thank you for the generous contribution of $1,581.50 to The Julian Center from the Indiana Robotics Invitational. The gift will directly impact the lives of the women and children we serve. In 2006, The Julian Center Shelter provided safe shelter, counseling, education, and advocacy services for 1,381 residents (752 women and 629 children) and 26,279 units of service (defined as one overnight stay per person). This is a substantial increase from 1,229 residents in 2005 and 1,164 residents in 2004. In 2006, our Counseling Center provided individual and group therapy sessions for 687 women and children resulting in a total of 5,856 clinical hours. Our overall counseling, education and case management services were provided for 14,941 individuals. In addition, our Crisis Call Managers responded to 5,960 calls and provided 9,635 referrals for service.

In 2007, we are on track to serve a record number of women and children through our programs and services for shelter, counseling, education, advocacy, case management, and community outreach. Your gift will help us continue to provide hope and healing to victims of domestic violence. The Julian Center sincerely appreciates your support in the fight against domestic violence.

The Julian Center has six divisions including the Administrative Offices and Counseling Center, The Julian Center Shelter, New Life Transitional Housing, Family Violence Outreach and Advocacy Program, Community Education Program, and Thrifty Threads (our donations center and thrift store). The women and children in our Shelter receive three meals daily, clothing and personal care items, transportation, and access to medical and dental services. In addition to essential services, psycho-educational groups educate our clients about the dynamics of domestic violence with the goal of preventing future incidents of abuse. The women and children benefit from therapeutic counseling through individual, family, group, art, and play therapy. Case Managers assist victims with finding employment and housing. Our primary goal is to help our clients achieve emotional stability and economic independence.

Thank you for the many ways you support the mission of The Julian Center. The safety of women and children depends on your assistance. As we continue to provide more than 30 years of service, your support will be a key factor in the success of our projects, program initiatives and special events as we plan our next thirty years of service for women and children in crisis in our community.

Sincerely,

Ann M. DeLaney
Executive Director

Re: IRI Silent Auction Thank-You

Mr.Fultz now that is inspiring! Hopefully IRI will continue the silent auction tradition. 234 does such a good job working with everyone at the IRI event I am sure they will be up for plenty of chairmans awards this season. That is really great to see that FIRST is helping people and places like that great job.

This is the IRI '07 Quilt made up of team t-shirts that were donated to this great cause. Sarah Plemmons from FRC 1902, Exploding Bacon, took this photo for me. I was so thrilled to see our team shirt displayed alongside the other teams and I wanted an opportunity to show 418 when I returned to Austin. This quilt is beautiful. I asked Chris a while back if I could post this photo and he gave me his permission. This thread seems the perfect place for such a wonderful achievement. There were so many special moments at IRI '07. This was one of them.

I'm proud to say that this quilt is laying on my bed. It is surprisingly very warm.
