Smile Arm and Lifts Powerpoint help

I am going to be doing a mechanical systems workshop for the inaugural FIRST Washington FRC Workshop this year. If anyone out there has a Powerpoint or other presentation they have used in the past describing types of arms/lifts and how to design them for competition I would sincerely appreciate it if you could send one along to me.

I have done the white paper search and found one excellent one but I thought that some other mentors may have already done this. Unfortunately the one workshop on this topic that was posted on the FIRST workshops from Atlanta is a bad file and will not open.

Thank you in advance for the assistance!!!

There is a great presentation that I have used before by Greg Needel called Building Competitive Manipulators. I believe that it is from www.midnightinvention.com There is info on strategy and types of manipulators. The presentation gives examples of team's robots using the different manipulator sand calculations for stress and Power. Ryan S.

Bob,

By doing a quick search I found it on F.I.R.S.T.'s web site.

Re: Arm and Lifts Powerpoint help

I just downloaded that file myself.

Why it won't open in Powerpoint 2003 blame Microsoft, because it opens perfectly in Powerpoint 2000.

Perhaps you can find an older version of Powerpoint.

Re: Arm and Lifts Powerpoint help

Funny...my copy of PowerPoint 2003 opened it. (Note: I don't think Microsoft would be quite so dumb as to not allow new versions of their software to open files made in old versions.)

Re: Arm and Lifts Powerpoint help

Hey all,
The powerpoint you are looking for can be downloaded here.

http://robot.midnightinvention.com/manipulators.ppt

This is a presentation that I presented at the championship 2006. This presentation has been passed around and modified by lots of people so this is just one version of it.
