So, Where Are We?
I'm trying to figure out where all the various solutions stand so I can prepare for the competition, because once we get started there really won't be much time for me to start implementing one, and after ship I'll probably be making up on sleep and work.

Re: So, Where Are We?
Nobody but a few dozen people can do anything other than speculate. About any part of the 2008 season. And those who DO know won't talk, even for Krispy Kremes.
I humbly suggest to not plan your season based on speculation. Don PS: Think this thread will grow to 20 pages in a day? |

Re: So, Where Are We?
I'm in the process of writing a whitepaper entitled "Scouting Tips For Smaller Teams" - pretty self-explanitory - with help from various sources. The project is currently on hold as I finish school, but will hopefully be posted before kickoff. I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for or not... perhaps you could clarify if you're looking for general scouting solutions, or solutions specific to the game (which is all complete speculation at this point, as I'm sure you know).
If it's general scouting solutions you're looking for, perhaps look at some of the earlier posts in this forum, there are many teams that have developed software to help with scouting, as well as many ideas for other types of scouting. Good luck! |

Re: So, Where Are We?
We all know the game won't be released until next month, but I know some people were working on some base systems. Basically, what tools/resources are needed for those. Server, wireless router (most likely), OS/supporting software, etc.

Re: So, Where Are We?
lol! That's a better system than we had last year: pencil and paper, crudely drawn lines, and two people who knew nothing about robots, save ours.
I was looking for one of the public availability. |

Re: So, Where Are We?
If we have extra team members when we scout, I like to say before a match, Kaitlin please watch these two robots on the blue alliance, Vera please watch these two on red, and I'll watch these two that are left over. When the match finishes, both of my friends will give me their information and I'll write it down. It's more accurate and less mind-boggling. And no one has a headache from trying to keep track of six moving, flashing robots at once. Then we switch off so I get to practice our 30-second battery change
