WA state media attention

Hello all, I'm a sophomore from Tahoma Robotics 2046 and I had a great idea for bringing some media attention to some of the Puget Sound area teams and maybe more. I am in the process of approaching the Seattle Times to run an article about FIRST in the Puget Sound area. I don't have a plan set at this very moment, but are there any teams in Puget Sound who would be willing to collaborate stories and info, should the Times chose to run the article?

Nice to hear the support! Here's a copy of the Media Access Guide off of the Seattle Times site. I think the media kit they talk about would be a good way of getting the attention of the editor.
In the kit will be a press release, which includes a summary of FIRST and its mission as well as the positives of being a part of it.
Also, brochures or pamphlets from other teams will be nice. For example, 2046 has a brochure providing information to sponsors that we could use.
Also, it would be nice to have comments from people about what they like about first. Full names are preferable.
Finally, take some pictures of your team working or having a good time and maybe find some old pictures of the Portland regional from previous years.
When I feel like there's enough 'stuff' I'll send it to the Times editor and hope for the best!

1318 would love to help. The Seattle Times wrote an article about us in last Thursday's paper in conjunction with our appearance before the House yesterday.

Again thanks to teams who want to help. I have an idea of what I want to include in the media kit. For pictures, around two or three from each team preferrably while fabricating, designing, programming, whatever. You can post them on the forum or e-mail them to me (justin@julmo.org). Make sure the subject of your picture is okay with having me send it to the Times. As for opinions about FIRST, the best way would be to e-mail me. Full names are good, as well as job titles (fabricator, programmer, designer, electronics person, mentor, etc.) Don't worry, I won't disclose info to anyone except the Times (that's sarcasm by the way). As for the article on FIRST itself, I'll do my own research and write the article. When I finish, I'll post it here for everyone else to see before I mail it. Attached is an example of the kind of picture I think would be good.
