Hey everyone when we received our kit of parts, it was missing the sensor strip (gear tooth, yaw rate gyro, dual axis accelerometer). We were wondering if anyone knew where we could obtain these boards.

Re: Gyros
If you were missing parts, you should've contacted FIRST by January 9 (10.1.1).
As for the actual parts, you'll have to settle for buying similar ones; the official sensors have never been available elsewhere. |

Re: Gyros
well what are people using the Gyros for? do we really need them? I have just found out that we had them but they were inadvertently broken. Is there any place where we could purchase a comparable gyros board?
Any input would be helpful... Thanks -Eric of team 2450 |

We've always found the kit gyro a little turn-rate limited, so we've always used an ADXRS300EB, which can handle faster turn rates. |

Re: Gyros
We are also missing the gear tooth sensor and the dual axis accelerometer. Do you know where we could find these?

(I think we have unused ones from previous KOPs. I'll check our inventory, and if so I'll PM you). |

Have you contacted FIRST yet? There's a good chance they'll send another sensor strip to you. (Where in Minneapolis are you? I'm a former Minnesotan myself) |

Re: Gyros
The gear tooth sensor is a basic hall effect sensor which can sense each tooth of a sprocket/gear in order to measure speed or distance traveled. You could get one of these from sparkfun.com, or you could use a different method of measuring wheel rotation, such as an encoder, which in my opinion are a little easier to use.
See Kevin Watson's page on encoders: http://www.kevin.org/frc/encoder/ |

Re: Gyros
Our actual team is from St. Paul but I live by lake nokomis in Minneapolis, and I shall contact first to see if they will send us a new sensor strip.

Re: Gyros
We have the GTS, but can't find a spare DAA or Gyro at the moment. PM me if you want me to send the GTS's.
