IR board controls

Can we program the IR board so (for example) we press button 1 and it moves forward indefinitely until we press button 2 (stop)? Or can we only program it to move for a certain amount of time?

There is a rule stating that you can only receive four commands. You don't have 4 buttons. So you can't have some type of keypad program for the IR receiver that lets you scroll through a dozen commands.. So (1) Go forward indefinitely (2) stop are ok and adding stuff like turn left, turn right are ok.
