Go to Post See, building a really great robot is just a pseudo challenge for the concept of the whole FIRST program. It is just a phony way to bring people together to reach one common goal. - sanddrag [more]

Additional IR Sensors?

The robot will be unable to receive IR input after the robot has turned around the track because the sensor will be facing the oppostie direction. Have any teams considered having multiple IR receivers and then retransmitting back to the original sensor?

Is there a rule preventing repeating of IR codes for fear of interfering with other robots?

If not, is there a rule about having multiple IR receivers or altering the supplied receiver?

Re: Additional IR Sensors?

There is no rule that would prohibit what you describe.

Re: Additional IR Sensors?

The IR sensors actually has a 360 degree field of view. Our team tried it out (with a BetaMax remote :O) and we noticed that it could recieve a signal from any angle (if not obstructed of course). As long as you don't have anything to limit its FOV you should be fine.
