IR Board Repair
So our IR board broke. 9v nothing, 12v nothing. We tested the regulator and the voltage stopped after. We crossed the R3(optional) with a wire and the LED lit up. Ran over to radio shack, bought a 7805 +5v regulator, desoldered the regulator in there, hooked the 7805 to some protoboard, ran wires in the correct spots, and then we tested it. Nothing. Hearts sank, but then we realized we didn't have a battery connected to the wires. Put a battery in and whammo, it works.
![]() ![]() You can see in this one the pins that we jumped to test it. But, make sure you have a 5v supply going across this pin, because this bypasses the regulator and input voltage will not be "regulated on". In any case, good luck to the teams that have a broken one. We got a little worried there for a sec. Last edited by AndrewSTA : 12-02-2008 at 18:02. |

Re: IR Board Repair
Oh Yeah! that was awesome
most fun I've had in a while. I like that we left the random resistor on there ![]() |
