Re: pic: Team1501 (THRSUT) robot Phoenix
That is one beautiful robot, yet again! Very clever design, too. How much does that huge doo-hicky weigh? (and what thickness of alluminum did you use for its construction?)
My favorite robot so far this year. |

Re: pic: Team1501 (THRSUT) robot Phoenix
The Doo-Hicky (aka The Sail) weighs 24.7 pounds and is made of .040" aluminum sheeting. There is no internal structure, it is all Monocoque. It is 50" tall also.
The frame is Chrome Moly tubing. |

Re: pic: Team1501 (THRSUT) robot Phoenix
Very nice robot! We watched the video this morning and talked about it several times during the day....
We're getting better at using rivets, but still haven't tackled the thin sheet construction. Maybe next year! 1501 definitely inspires others. |

I love the look, but I would have named it The Crossbow
