Re: Team 558 placing the ball and scoring
Something's wrong. I hope your flag is just too tall. It should fit under the Overpass with ~ 1.5 inches to spare (flag top 75", Overpass top 78"). I'd hate to think you calibrated to an Overpass that's too short.
Other than that, it looks pretty good. |

Re: Team 558 placing the ball and scoring
We just rigged that overpass up quickly to practice. While the top was the right height, the two-by-fours are obviously thicker than the pipe used in competition, so it hung down a bit lower than the real overpass will.

Re: Team 558 placing the ball and scoring
Thanx for the info. The flag is OK. The rack is made of 2X4's and not pipe and hangs down an extra inch or so.
.Thanx Norm |

Re: Team 558 placing the ball and scoring
Looks great.
What is you speed to place ball on overpass? One suggestion. Your upper ball handler looks like two pieces of aluminum/steel. Unless it is perfectly smooth you may end up cutting the outer covering of the ball if not the ball itself. Speaking as an inspector, I would put something over the edge, just in case. Have a great year ![]() |

Re: Team 558 placing the ball and scoring
Thanks for the tip. The upper part of the ball handler is actually two pieces of wood, just painted silver. It's pretty well sanded and rounded, so I don't think piercing the ball will be a problem. As for speed in hurdling. we can either stop and hurdle or hurdle on the go. Once the ball is over we just drop the arm and keep going under the overpass. That's why we went for the reverse dunk strategy; figured it would be easier to keep going and keep our center of gravity more over the robot.
Good luck to everyone this ship day, and see you in CT! |

Re: Team 558 placing the ball and scoring
Sorry the web page is misbehaving, I am having issues with the SQL server. The links still work but the Video and Pictures are out until I get home tonight.
The video of the robot at work is still up on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QanBL1_K94 Norm |
