I'm working on a new design for our site and was hoping you guys could give me some feedback/input on page structure, loading time, and overall looks of it.

Here's the general design concept. More pictures can be viewed here.

First of all, how should all the pages be structured. As you can see right now, I've got Start Here, About the AdamBots, FIRST, OCCRA, General, and Resources with different subpages. However, I really don't think that this would be the best way. Does anyone have a really nice example of structure?

Second, what are the best ways to decrease loading time? At the moment, I'm planning on switching to WP-United (because of our phpBB3 forum) and I'm curious if Wordpress has any good plugins or modifications that may help with that.

Lastly, how does it look? Are your eyes bleeding or are you drooling?

I quite like it actually.

As for structure, you can check out my site (in the sig) however I am aware that our content needs differ in ways so no guarantees! Also mine is a Flash site, which is apparently the sin of web design or something ridiculous like that, and I find a usability problem with scrollbars in Flash, so you might see sub-sections where you think things should be together.

The FIRST logo on yellow... I'm sure that's a design decision you're aware of so I'll pass by saying it looks beautiful, but then I'm not a judge.

I'll just finalize this post by making a note not to let your right column stretch down waay past your left column (I've seen it happen on columned sites!), and I won't get picky about your design.

Good job, now make it real!

Wow! Is that written in Latin?! That's sweet!

With regards to the website itself, very cool. Clean, easy to read and I like what looks like an updated blog. The colors are also well matched, striking a balance between dully black and glaring yellow. The only thing I might suggest is you add a content map, possibly the last of the links at the top.

Nah, it's not written in Latin, it's just Lorem Lipsum (dummy text basically; filler). A sitemap is a great idea, I need to remember that.

Lorem Lipsum is latin. it talks about the meaning of life or love or something like that. Its a pretty elaborate story.

as for the site, its nice.
I was thinking of something similar for our off season vex event site.

i love the way the background matches the content. and as usual, great use of photoshop with the banner and image affects.

only issue i can see is that the FIRST logo in the banner might not comply with the logo usage guidelines but im not sure how picky they are with that in regards to banners

i think FIRST is being to picky on this, i mean you think they'd say thanks instead of you should change that, their logo is being posted all over the web, they shouldn't care how it looks

thats what i would think, its a lot easier to use it when you can mess with the background color.
