Madness Challenge

Please read below and if your team is interested PM me with your team name, school and number

Madness Challenge

The Madness Challenge is something new we are doing this year at Monty Madness. However, we hope to continue it in the years to come. It is a challenge, similar to Mr. Dean Kamen’s homework that will be issued every year at Monty Madness to FIRST teams. It encourages teams to use the knowledge and skills they have gained through FIRST and apply it to something in the real world. The challenge encourages FIRST, as a family of teams, to prove its effect on the world. Every year, Cougar Robotics, Team 1403 on behalf of Monty Madness will be handing out awards to those teams who have most effectively engaged in the task at hand.

2008 Madness Challenge

This year the challenge is called “Green It Up”. This challenge encourages teams to help create a better environment in their community and to help make the Earth greener. This can be done in both large and small ways. It extends from promoting and implementing renewable sources of energy to picking up garbage or planting a few trees at local parks. Teams can do as much or as little as they seem fit. Team 1403 and the Volunteers of Monty Madness encourage everyone to get involved and get active. We challenge you to find new ways to clean up your community. Don’t just work as a FIRST team, get your entire community involved as well.

The way we are going to judge the participating teams, is through a video and a written description of what the team has done. The length of the video will be determined by the number of teams participating.
Just like, Mr. Kamen's Homwork, this challenge can be worked on year-around. Submissions will be accepted around competition/build season. Details about the challenge will be posted up on Chief Delphi and eventually on team1403.net (not yet, our webmaster is on vacation!!)

This is the first year we are trying to implement the challenge, so I apologize ahead of time, if something is slightly off. However, comments, suggestions, and questions are appreciated!

Thank you,
Sravan
