Fisher Price Motor with Bane Bots Transmission

Does anyone know if you can mount a Fisher Price motor to a banebots 36mm gear box?

If so is any extra hardware required?

Thanks,
- Bochek

Re: Fisher Price Motor with Bane Bots Transmission

I have already been to their website... What is the shaft size on the FP motor? and is the bolt pattern the same as the banebots RS545 motors?

my interpretation of the rule is that you have to use the RS545 motor. It doesn't have to be the one they shipped you in the kit, just the same motor.

so if you just buy the completed assembly from banebots you are good to go.

i dont think there is any limit to the number of RS545 motors you can use.

as for the CIMs you can only have 4.

Re: Fisher Price Motor with Bane Bots Transmission

The Fisher Price motor is similar to the RS550 motor sold by Banebots. It is not the same motor, but is the same size package. They are both the same mounting configuration and 3.2mm shaft diameter as the RS540 and RS545 motors. All four motors can be installed on the 36mm and 42mm Banebot transmissions. All you need to use the fisher price is a new pinion gear from Banebots for the fisher price motor. Make sure you get the correct pinion gear for the transmission you are using. They have different ones for 3:1, 4:1 and 5:1 first stage transmissions. Also make sure you get the one for the 3.2mm shaft gear too. You have to press the old pinion off the fisher price and press the new one on the shaft the correct depth (compare the pinion spacing from the face of the motor with the spacing on the motor from the Banebot). Be careful not to bend the shaft when replacing the gear. You will also have to trim off the end of the shaft flush with the pinion. We used the Fisher Price, RS540, & RS550 with Banebot trannies on our robot last year with no problems.

Re: Fisher Price Motor with Bane Bots Transmission

to clarify an earlier point, the RS 545 is in the KOP, so you can use the banebots completed model.

question - you are saying the RS 550 is essentially the same as the FP motor ?

and are RS 540 models acceptable this year ? I don't know of any in the KOP so therefore should not be acceptable.

Re: Fisher Price Motor with Bane Bots Transmission

Ed

The FP is similar to the RS550 but it is not an exact duplicate in performance. Since the FP is different every year we get them, they're performance is consantly changing. They are the same physical package as the RS550. You are correct, the RS550 and RS540 are not in the kit this year, only the RS545 will be allowed, and only the number in the kit can be used on the robot. You can have more for spare parts. The FP and RS545 can be installed on either 36mm or 42mm Banebot transmissions.

Re: Fisher Price Motor with Bane Bots Transmission

I am just asking because i need 4 motors on 36mm gearboxes. and knowing the rules, that means i need to use the 2 FP motors and the 2 RS545's

Thank you to everyone who helped,
- Bochek
