Specific requirements regarding grades / discipline

I have looked at several of the team manuals that are available (thanks for sharing) and we have modeled our new handbook on those. I have a couple of specific questions, though.

If your team has grade requirements, what are they specifically? (Does a student have to maintain a certain GPA, or are they allowed to have no F's, D's?) When does your team do the grade check? (Is it based on the previous quarter, semester, progress report, current progress?)

As for behavior, what do you do when a team member is doing fairly well (requiring extra supervision, but trying very hard) at the meetings, but has many days of ISS or OSS on his/her record? (Recently - since the season started in the fall.)

Some of these students are the ones who need the team the most, but there are also many difficulties with trying to keep them on the team. (Extra time away from schoolwork, representing the team, etc.)

Ok, our team has many rules regarding your questions. All students on the team must maintain a 3.0 GPA. If the student slips below that for any reason, a member of the team will help tutor them if they are proficient in the area they need help. We give every member a chance to improve their grades. Once it is competition time and the student still has not gotten their grades to where they need to be or has not taken the initiative to improve their grades they are only allowed to attend local competions on Saturday's and are not allowed to attend over night competions.

Reguarding team policy on students with ISS or OSS, if a student recieves either of these they are no longer allowed to be on the team, and must re-apply to be on the team for the next year. However, each students situation is different and they may have received ISS or OSS for very different reasons. For example if they receive ISS for being late to school so many times they are not asked to leave the team, they are just talked to about the situation.

I hope this helps you. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask me them.

Cass
