Who is Car Nack?

I know I'm not much short of a noob to F.I.R.S.T. but who is Car Nack? I have a suspicion your name is a reference to John Carmack, is this true? Are his predictions to be trusted? Where are the Endless Sands?

These are dire questions, please answer them, the fate of our world hangs in the balance.

Car Nack is the friendly neighborhood sage, who predicts how various elements of the current game will turn out. He is often right, though he has been known to be wrong on rare occasions. Asking his real name (he has one?) results in great ignorance. As for the Endless Sands and the possible reference in the name, only Car Nack can tell you for sure. Rumor says that Car Nack will be at the St. Louis Regional, but finding Car Nack may be difficult at best. Maybe his camel can tell you where to find him.

Car Nack may claim to dwell among the endless sands, but I suspect tomorrow morning he'll be digging his camel out of the drifting lake-effect snow.

Yes, Car Nack generally makes a few predictions per year and they're almost always right from my experience.

Hmm, seems to me Car Nack and his penchant for postulating and pondering is probably based on Car Nac The Magnificent, a Johnny Carson character from the Tonight Show (now the host is Jay Leno).

So either its someone who is old enough to have watched that show, or someone who has a keen interest in trivia or pop culture references, or maybe both!

I've always assumed it was a nod to the Egyptian Temple.

That said, our Car Nack is pretty good at what he/she does.

If you do enough searching on these forums, you can figure out who he/she is.
