Eustis, Florida Declares April 12-18th "12 Volt Bolt" Week

We were recently given a unique honor (see attached file of the city's proclamation).

Team 1557: 12 Volt Bolt was recognized at last week's Eustis City Commission Meeting. The Mayor read & presented the team with a framed Proclamation declaring the week of Championship "12 Volt Bolt Week". Afterwards two students described the FIRST competition & thanked our community for its support. The 5 city commissioners were given "honorary Team 1557 membership" certificates.

This was a memorable honor (& it was fun hearing how tough it can be to say "12 Volt Bolt" repeatedly without stumbling).

Great job Pat, and congrats to your team on the honor. That team has really come a long way in it's five years in the FIRST program. It's always fun to see you guys at the Florida Regional Every year, Espassally you guys being a Disney Alliance team.

and yes, "12 Volt Bolt" is very hard to say five times really fast, sort of like "Irish Wristwatch"

Great job, Florida is really into robotics. Jeb Bush declared March 13th as East Lake Robotics Day and last year our team won an award from the Governor presented at the Florida Regional.

Disney alliance? Iv'e heard that before, explain plz.......

Walt Disney Alliance= Any Team In Central Florida that is sponsored in some way by Walt Disney World (Monetary/Mentor) by Walt Disney World... (im not sure if it's still offically called this, but this is what used to be 1402, 665, 762, 1083, 186, 1390, 1065, and 945 in 2004).

2005 was the year when DeVry University came on board and started sponsoring Disney Alliance teams as well.... If you want to learn more about this alliance, i would talk to someone who's been involved in FIRST longer than me. (Phu Nyugen or Dan Welsh... maybe one of the old mentors of 186 or 1083 before 2003)
