Team 832 Going Green!
At TNT Team 832 talked to the mentors from Team 79 Krunch and they gave us some good advice.
Team 832 has decided to change our name to Oscar. We are better known throughout the FIRST community as Oscar than as Chimera. Many people still call us Oscar. With Oscar we have name recognition that the Chimera name has never achieved. Besides we like Oscar! So, we are now Team 832 Oscar – Outstanding Students Creating Awesome Robots. Re: Team 832 Going Green!
On behalf of everyone who saw your robot in 2008, and was very sad when you unveiled your robot in 2009... good decision. Bring back the grouch!

Re: Team 832 Going Green!
Oscar - congratulations on the name (although I liked Chimera, too). Oscar will be a lot of fun for you guys to work with.
Listening to the mentors on FRC 79, team Krunch, is one of the wisest things anyone can do - especially if they want to increase their understanding of the bigger picture and what it takes to keep it real when working on and with a team. I was very lucky to have that opportunity a few years ago when I volunteered at the Florida Regional. A couple of the mentors explained the value and importance of sustaining teams that are already in existence and who struggle to survive, make ends meet, compete well, keep morale up and intact. They were busy with their team but they took the time to share their insight with me. Later on that same weekend, a couple of college mentors from 1902, Exploding Bacon, helped me further understand how helping to sustain teams strengthens the community and the region. It wasn't too very long after that, that we started seeing 1902 working in collaboration with other teams and having a lot of fun in the process. That was a big aside but your comment reminded me of the integrity and the wisdom that you guys had access to and paid attention to while competing at TNT. Very cool. All the best to you in the upcoming season, Oscar! Go green and stay green. ![]() Jane Last edited by JaneYoung : 27-10-2009 at 23:20. |

Re: Team 832 Going Green!
This really made me think, nobody knows team 11 by its real name lol. Our given school name is actually the Mt. Olive Marauders. Then again, our school colors aren't yellow and black (they're red and gold). I guess we like to be unique in our school.
Sorry for the tangent, haha. |
