Story of RU27 and a FIRST Alum

I'm switching from a lesser seen forum to continue this story here. 103 Alum Tina Haskins is featured in the compelling video that chronicles the first ever transatlantic crossing of a robotic glider:
http://rucool.marine.rutgers.edu/ - play that embedded video
OR see the direct Youtube link here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYOTFJUbkn0

it'll be the coolest 3:56 you spent on the internet today, I promise

-Oh Scarlet did make it to Spanish waters by the way, and Tina is currently in Antarctica working with other gliders and Rutgers scientists. Among other historic events, it looks like Neil Armstrong paid the Antarctic crew a visit in the last 24 hours... http://www.i-cool.org/?p=4615

Re: Story of RU27 and a FIRST Alum

Cool video... but that would be one disappointed shark that tried to chew down on that machine. Good thing they threw a couple divers in to keep it exciting.

Heading in the other direction are the sailboats... http://www.microtransat.org/

Wow! I honestly got scared when the sharks came. I'm glad no one got hurt, and that it went all the way across the ocean! I read about this in Popular Science long time ago and forgot about it ever since..
