R22 and Australian FIRST Team (3132)
Hi
R22 (Total cost of non-KOP parts) states that the cost of all non-KOP must total less than $3,500 USD. Our question is simple but complex - is the $3,500 USD based on the exchange rate at the time of purchase of the parts, the time of the competition, a fair average taken over the build time, or some other wonderful formula that I can't think of right now? Ummm.. help? Steve |

Re: R22 and Australian FIRST Team (3132)
This is one of those integrity things: do your best, have receipts from time of purchase. It is possible to go out and buy uber-parts, probably even full robots with assembly instructions. You should be good. Good luck from Team 1771, and please have your mentor contact us directly with questions. www.nghs1771.com for contact info.

Re: R22 and Australian FIRST Team (3132)
This is not one of the integrity questions. This is a question for the official FIRST Q&A as you will get no real response from the CD community. Post your question directly to FIRST asap.

Re: R22 and Australian FIRST Team (3132)
Steve,
Very few teams ever get close to the $3500. This is simply a constraint on the robot design. Think of it as gravity. Everyone needs to deal with it but it is not out of reach. Read the whole manual and you will see that it is not something to get overly concerned about. I would say that the majority of teams I have inspected average between $400 and $1000. |
