I installed Wind River on my vista laptop but when I booted Wind River up, it has this error and goes like "License Library Missing" and I cannot access the IDE
I installed Wind River according to the pdf from the FIRST website... What happened? Did I miss some update or something? |

Re: Wind River License Library Problem
Wipe all traces of Wind River from your computer, take out your software CD's from the kit.
Install WindRiver again, make sure to add the license file (I forget the exact name but it's some text file that the installation will ask for, it's on Disc 2). Don't open WindRiver yet. Restart your computer just to be safe. Download and run http://first.wpi.edu/Images/CMS/Firs...te20100107.exe followed by http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprogr....aspx?id=10934 . Restart the computer once more and attempt opening WindRiver. If you're still getting errors I'd recommend calling FIRST support and they'll direct you to the necessary department (might be external to FIRST). Phone: (603) 666-3906 or (800) 871-8326 (via http://usfirst.org/contactform.aspx). Hope I was of help, because it's a licensing issue you might want to cleanup registries after the uninstaller ~ I'd recommend http://ccleaner.com EDIT: Oh, and of course since you're in Vista, right click on the run shortcut of WindRiver->Properties->Compatibility->Run as XP SP3 and Run as Administrator. |

Re: Wind River License Library Problem
I just did a clean install on a clean system (windows xp and service packs only). The key to getting the license to work is selecting a Permanent activation when asked, then providing the activation file which is:
D:\distributions\wind river\FirstRobotics_2010_install.txt. You can see what this looks like in the attached dialog box. That should get the licensing working. Last edited by BradAMiller : 14-01-2010 at 15:50. Reason: forgot image |

Re: Wind River License Library Problem
One last question... are you running on a 32 or 64 bit version of Vista?

Is there any other way we can program the robot without Wind River but still using C++? Can I just configure normal Eclipse to do what workbench does?
'Cause I'm really tired of Wind River... ![]() |
