Plaction Wheels : 250 Spacers/Review

Hey,

I have two questions regarding the AndyMark plaction wheels:

First: Does one need to use the 250 plastic spacer (http://store.andymark.biz/am-0207.html) to mount a sprocket to the plaction wheel? It doesn't specifically say so anywhere, but 2 of these spacers are included in the AndyMark drive systems that use plaction wheels, so I wanted to make sure.

Second: Has anyone had any problems with these breaking. I know a few teams broke last year's rovers wheels, and those were made of the same molded polycarbonate, but were under lower force without the friction of carpet. Any general reviews would be great.

Thanks,

-Seth

We're using the plaction wheels. If you use the kit sprockets (22 tooth, if i recall), you'll either need to use the spacers or turn down the hub of the wheel on a lathe for there to be enough room for the chain the seat fully. If you're using a larger sprocket, you should be fine without the spacer.

I haven't heard of anyone having problems with the plaction wheels breaking. As far as I know, the part that some teams kept breaking on the rover wheels was the acetal tread, which is different from polycarbonate.
