We have a question about starting position and size of robot. We know that we must start within a box 30"x33"x42. Can we make the base of our robot 42"x33" with a height of 30"? Could we start in that position, or would we have to start on our side and flip down to begin?

Generally, you need to start with the 42" as your height dimension. From there, you can expand or fall down to any size, but you must make the 42" the starting height.

Starting position
At the start of the match your robot must be within the allowed area. Thsi means the 42" dim. must be upright at the start.
If you design a mech to make your machine fall over at the start that is your choice. ( Big Moe 217 did that last year in FIRST) The way it fits into the size box is the way you START the match. |
