Camera Problems?

How many teams out there are having trouble with their camera? I know that our team didn't, but I have heard that for some teams it was a big problem.

Re: Camera Problems?

I suspect that a lot of what you're hearing is due to problems not with the camera, but with the dashboard video feedback. The Driver Station update isn't as robust as it could be, and while getting everything to install properly in the end is actually pretty simple, it's not terribly obvious how to do it at first.

Re: Camera Problems?

Yeah, ours originally could not send data back to the dashboard for a few reasons:
1.The dashboard doesn't update correctly the first time you run the dashboard update. You have to uninstall it and run it again. When it has worked, your dashboard should have a compass-looking thing in the lower right corner.

2.The crossover cable that our electricians put in was both rather frayed, and also wrapped around some high-current power lines. This was kind of a one-two punch in that the lines put out enormous amounts of noise, and the damage compromised any shielding that the cable might have had, it would drop something like 95% of the packets when it was near the lines.

Re: Camera Problems?

We had issues initially but then got it working. You just need to make sure everything is up to date and has the right settings and it should be fine. Also, the code that goes into can be a little confusing because it's different in all the different sources we looked at. If anyone needs help, feel free to send me a message!

Re: Camera Problems?

The double-install fixed it for us - but it took an hour to track down.
