What are these for? (cRio Gaskets)
These were included in the kit of parts
http://andymark.biz/am-0590.html What are they for? Why does the cRio need gaskets? Do they dissipate static or something? From what I can tell, to get them to fit on the ports they are designed for they have to be applied sticky side up. What? ![]() |

I was curious about the same thing.
The ethernet and the serial port ones had to be sticky side up, the module one appeared to go sticky side down with a lot of stretching to get it to fit. |

This should shed some light on the gaskets: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/all...257673007935A1. The gaskets are for inside the cRIO to keep debris out.

Re: What are these for? (cRio Gaskets)
Well that clears that up. Two of the gaskets go on the inside of the cRio.

Re: What are these for? (cRio Gaskets)
You may be working on the control board separately from robot construction, but eventually the board and robot will get together. You know that not all drilling will have been finished on the robot at that point. Serious precaution should be taken to prevent metal chips from that drilling from falling into the electrical innards. Vacuuming afterward will NOT guarantee removal of all of those pesky bits. Debugging your control programming is hard enough without the uncertainty of electrical integrity. Think of these little gaskets as safety glasses for the cRio.
